Time for Career Politician Foster Campbell to Strap On His Tap Dancing Shoes

(Lafayette, LA) – The Boustany for Senate campaign released the following statement after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it is re-opening the Hillary Clinton email investigation after new emails “pertinent to this investigation” surfaced.

Boustany Communications Director Jack Pandol said: “Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt major-party nominee in modern history. Not even Obama’s FBI can justify ignoring mounting evidence that Clinton risked our national security for her own political expedience by using a private email server. Dr. Boustany encourages the FBI to investigate this matter the fullest extent of the law and hold Secretary Clinton accountable for her actions.”

Democratic candidate for Senate and career politician Foster Campbell frequently says he doesn’t own any “tap dancing shoes” while deriding tap dancing politicians who don’t talk straight with the people. But Campbell has been doing some tap dancing of his own avoiding the question of whether he supports corrupt Hillary Clinton for President.

Tap dancing career politician Foster  Campbell refused to even say Hillary Clinton's name at the Louisiana Public Broadcasting debate in Ruston.

In an article in The Advocate titled “While most U.S. Senate candidates back their party’s presidential nominee, one Louisiana candidate won’t talk about it,” Foster Campbell tap danced around the question of who he’s supporting for President. Campbell said: “Talking about Hillary Clinton distracts people.”

Campbell has been criticized by his Democratic opponent, Caroline Fayard, for continuing to avoid the question. Fayard said: “The facts are the facts. Commissioner Campbell refuses to even say Hillary Clinton’s name publicly, or say whether he voted for President Obama.”

In a letter to the editor written by Terrebonne Parish Councilwoman Arlanda Williams titled “Foster Campbell trying to pull fast one on black voters,” the Councilwoman criticizes Campbell for continuing to tap-dance around the question. Williams writes: “Where were you for Secretary Hillary Clinton? To this day, when you are expecting Democrats to fall in line and vote for you, you’re nowhere to be found when it comes to supporting our party’s nominee for president.”

Boustany Communications Director Jack Pandol said: “Career politician Foster Campbell continues tap dancing around the question of whether he supports Hillary Clinton for President. He says ‘talking about Hillary Clinton distracts people.’ Foster Campbell needs to stop tap dancing like the career politician he is and man up. After today’s revelation that Hillary Clinton is under federal investigation for risking our national security, does he support the most corrupt major-party nominee in modern history, or will he continue to hide from the people of Louisiana?”

Boustany: In Light of FBI Decision, Clinton Should Withdraw Candidacy

(Lafayette, LA) – Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) said that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton should withdraw her candidacy for President of the United States after Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey said the FBI will not recommend criminal charges against her for using a private email server while serving as head of the State Department.

Boustany said: “Today’s announcement by the FBI may be a victory for Hillary Clinton’s personal ambitions, but it is a tragedy for the American people and the integrity of our institutions. No one should be surprised the American people no longer trust their government when they continue to witness people at the top getting away with breaking the law while families and small businesses are struggling. We need honest leaders who can work to rebuild the trust of the American people in their government.

“Given the FBI admitted Hillary Clinton’s email may have been hacked, this puts her at an unprecedented risk of manipulation and blackmail by foreign governments with sensitive classified material at her fingertips. No candidate in history has run for President as such a national security liability. It’s clear Hillary Clinton doesn’t belong in the Oval Office. She should immediately withdraw her candidacy for President of the United States.”

In Comey’s address, he said the FBI identified 110 emails in 52 separate email chains that included classified materials at that time. While the FBI could not directly confirm Clinton’s private server was hacked, Comey acknowledged it was possible. Comey characterized Clinton’s use of a private server as “extremely careless” but said the FBI could not identify any intent to break the law.

On June 26, former President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch met privately on the tarmac of the Phoenix, Arizona, airport amid the ongoing Department of Justice investigation into the use of a private server by Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State.

Vitter: FBI Recommendation in Clinton Email Scandal Sets Dangerous Precedent

FBI Says Hillary Clinton Was "Extremely Careless"

(Metairie, La.) – U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today released the following statement upon the conclusion of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's inappropriate and controversial email practices during her time as secretary of state.‎ The FBI concluded they will not recommend pursuing criminal charges. FBI Director James Comey has previously stated, “We (the FBI) don’t normally make public our recommendations to the prosecutors….”

“Hillary Clinton gravely mishandled sensitive information and put our national security at risk—not by mistake, but as part of an elaborate system of private servers and the like designed to hide politically damaging information,” Vitter said. “Despite the facts uncovered during the FBI's investigation, today's announcement essentially gives her a pass based on politics, pure and simple. The American people are sick and tired of the Washington elite insiders living under a different set of rules than everyone else, and Director Comey’s statements today sets a dangerous precedent moving forward.”

In a press conference this morning, Director Comey recommended no criminal charges against former Secretary Clinton, although he said that she was "extremely careless" and her colleagues were irresponsible in the handling of sensitive information. Comey continued noting that “this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences.” Click here to read Director Comey’s remarks.

Last week and just days before Comey was expected to make a public recommendation, Bill Clinton met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch aboard a private plane at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, raising serious concerns over conflicts of interest. A formal announcement from Lynch on the Justice Department's next steps in this case is expected in the near future.

Vitter has been a vocal advocate for pushing the U.S. State Department to turn over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s records from her private email domain, including emails regarding the State Department’s decision against designating Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), citing concerns about conflicts of interest between Clinton, the Clinton Foundation, and her position as Secretary of State. As of yet, he has not received an adequate response. Click here to read more.

In 2015, Vitter also wrote to the Inspector Generals of the Department of State and Inspector General of the Intelligence Community over Administration efforts to shut out oversight of Secretary Clinton’s emails. Click here to read more.  Following Vitter’s letter, the Intelligence Community IG (ICIG) responded that Vitter “correctly state(d), that the ICIG had not had unfettered access with regard to the (ICIG) ongoing review of classified Intelligence Community (IC) information in personal emails of State Department employees.

LAGOP Issues Press Release on Hillary Clinton's Visit to Baton Rouge

In a press release issued on Monday, the LAGOP had to say the following concerning the abysmal showing for Clinton's visit to Baton Rouge:

Hillary Fails to Draw 1/3 the Crowd of Sanders

Today in Baton Rouge, Hillary Clinton failed to draw even one-third of the crowd that self-proclaimed socialist Senator Bernie Sanders drew in his visit to Louisiana a few weeks ago. According to press reports, Clinton, who was aided by Louisiana Democrat Party Chair Karen Carter Peterson, only attracted 1,200 supporters. In August, more than 4,500 people attended Sanders’ rally in Kenner.

“While the state Democrat Party is apparently in the bag for Hillary, it is clear the voters of Louisiana are ready for anyone but Hillary,” Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere said.

Notably absent from today’s Clinton rally was the Louisiana Democrat Party’s handpicked gubernatorial candidate, Rep. John Bel Edwards.

"Undoubtedly, Edwards is doing his best to achieve what many statewide Democrat candidates before him have failed to do--ally himself with Democrat Party leaders and donors while at the same time convincing the voters of Louisiana that he doesn’t really believe in their far left wing policies,” Villere said. “At the event, Hillary doubled down on her support for Obamacare, which is hurting Louisiana families, but failed to explain why she is seeking to hold Louisiana’s economy captive as she opposes lifting the ban on crude oil exports until she gains "concessions” from the energy industry. No wonder John Bel was hiding. Hillary and her friends who control the state Democrat Party never miss a chance to be out of touch with Louisiana voters.”

SENATOR HIGHLIGHTS CLINTON TIES TO NIGERIAN DONOR

Louisiana Sen. David Vitter has chimed in on the recurring issues surrounding former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and her association with questionable organizations and countries that have contributed to the Clinton Foundation.  Per the following, Vitter has questions concerning her reluctance to designate Boko Haram as a terrorist organization.

Vitter sent a letter last week to Secretary of State John Kerry requesting all of Clinton’s records relating to Boko Haram and her reluctance to label it as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).

The senator also asked for all of Secretary Clinton’s communications with Gilbert Chagoury, a Nigerian construction magnate who has donated millions to the Clinton Foundation in addition to contributing thousands to an outside group that helped re-elect President Bill Clinton in 1996.

The entire text of the letter is below:

March 17, 2015

The Honorable John Kerry
Secretary of State
U.S. Department of State
2201 C Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Secretary Kerry:

Like many Americans, I am incredibly concerned about the recent revelations that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has kept official federal records hidden from the public, both through an external email domain and in deciding to delete thousands of these records. While the State Department is in the process of reviewing the documents Secretary Clinton has provided, I am requesting that the Department provide all additional files specifically relating to the designation of Boko Haram as a terrorist organization during former Secretary Clinton’s term and seek out any related files which may not have already been turned over by Secretary Clinton.

As I have in the past, I commend your November 2013 decision to designate Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. However, given the drastic foothold Boko Haram was allowed to gain prior to being designated an FTO, the nexus between the Department’s decision against designating Boko Haram as an FTO and connections to outside groups should be brought forward. Associated records should have been preserved as evidence of the agency’s activities, decisions and procedures. These should be presented to the relevant committees and to the American public to be evaluated for corresponding misconduct.

Last year, I presented the Department with evidence that multiple State Department Country Reports on Terrorism, presented to Congress under Secretary Clinton’s direction, failed to include valuable information related to Boko Haram. Inaccuracies within official documents make it clear that the State Department misled Congress and the American people. Additional evidence demonstrates that multiple Department employees who were directly involved in the decision against designating Boko Haram as an FTO, including the Office Coordinator for Counterterrorism, have been Clinton Foundation employees. Disturbingly, while the Department was refusing to make the FTO designation, former President Bill Clinton, also the head of the Clinton Foundation and account owner of the Clinton email domain, participated in events with a long-time donor and major Nigerian land developer, Gilbert Chagoury, who previously agreed to a $66 million plea deal during international investigation into corruption charges against him. We need to know if Mr. Chagoury had any influence in the decision not to designate Boko Haram an FTO, or had any other influence with Sec. Clinton’s foreign policy decisions.

Between this history of involvement and the recent revelations regarding Secretary Clinton’s record keeping, I strongly believe it is essential to re-establish trust in the Department to provide the related materials to the public. If funds from the Clinton Foundation were used to pay for the email server, it would constitute a financial benefit from the Clinton Foundation and donations from foreign businessmen who directly stood to gain from Clinton’s decision, which is questionable at best.

I have long opposed the foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation as a conflict of interest for Secretary Clinton due to the nature of the job. Moreover, as you are aware, the Code of Federal Regulations requires federal agencies to make and preserve records that duly document agency activity. Former Secretary Clinton’s actions in conjunction to information I have previously presented to the Department where she circumvented and misled Congress should be closely examined.

The purpose of the law is to ensure that agency activities are available to be reviewed when needed — such as for FOIA requests or congressional inquiries. Each federal agency is responsible for maintaining its records in accordance with regulations. Due to the highly unusual nature of the current circumstance, I am asking you to demonstrate the Department’s commitment to transparency and to provide all files related to their decision not to designate Boko Haram an FTO, and all communication with Mr. Chagoury or his affiliated businesses.

These actions, if true, run contrary to the trust placed in the Department, as a representative of the United States and constitutional government. It is imperative to fully disclose relevant information to the American public.

Sincerely,

David Vitter
United States Senate
