Kennedy in the LOGA Industry Report: GOP mission to clear Biden admin’s red tape will help Louisiana energy producers thrive

“I’m proud that Louisiana will continue to be a leader in oil and gas production as America enters a new era of prosperity and security.”

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) penned this column for the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (LOGA) Industry Report explaining how Congressional Republicans are working with the Trump administration to clear red tape to help unleash America’s energy dominance.

Key excerpts of the op-ed are below:

“President Biden let TikTok teens, climate change zealots, and other members of the Democratic Party dictate American energy policy for four years. The results were not good.

“The Biden administration left the American people with 29% higher electricity bills, a depleted strategic national fuel reserve, and a mountain of bureaucratic red tape that made it difficult for energy producers to produce energy and create good-paying jobs. In 2024 alone, Louisiana families had to pay nearly $1,000 more to keep their lights on and gas tanks full.

“Fortunately, the American people voted to restore common sense in Washington. President Trump and my conservative colleagues in Congress are working to restore America’s global energy dominance. To do this, we must first clean up the mess left by the Biden administration — and President Trump and his team are off to a great start.”

. . .

“As common sense makes a comeback in Washington, energy dominance is on the horizon. I’m proud that Louisiana will continue to be a leader in oil and gas production as America enters a new era of prosperity and security.”

LOGA Statement on Ben Bienvenu’s Appointment as Commissioner of Conservation

BATON ROUGE, LA (January 31st, 2024) – Today, Governor Jeff Landry announced his appointment of Ben Bienvenu as Louisiana’s next Commissioner of Conservation. In response, LOGA President Mike Moncla issued the following statement:

"First of all, I’d like to commend Governor Landry on yet another astounding appointment. The Governor continues to hit it out of the park on every cabinet appointment thus far.

The Office of Conservation plays a vital role in our state’s oil and gas industry, so it was crucial that we get this right – and I fully believe that’s what Governor Landry has done with this appointment.

Ben Bienvenu has vast exploration and production knowledge from all segments.

From drilling wells in a field foreman’s role for Phillips in the ArkLaTex, to learning the offshore shelf play at Chevron, to strategic planning for Murphy’s deep-water team, to Regional Manager for Gulfport’s inland waters properties, to operating a small oil and gas company of his own… Ben is well equipped with experience in every facet of Louisiana’s oil and gas footprint.

Ben and I spoke at length today about this tremendous opportunity, along with many of his ideas to make Louisiana an attractive place to do business again.

We look forward to working with him in the coming years."

LOGA Responds to Louisiana's Class VI Primacy Application's Appearance in Federal Register

BATON ROUGE, LA (April 28, 2023) - Today, Louisiana’s Class VI primacy application has been noticed in the Federal Register. In response, LOGA President released the following statement of support:

“This is a great step towards giving Louisiana more oversight on permit approvals for CCUS projects. Far too often, we see these important projects stalled due to the slow grind of federal bureaucracy, while the operators wait in limbo.

Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources and Office of Conservation know our state’s geology better than the federal government does. They have staff that’s better equipped to dedicate more hours to the approval process. LOGA is encouraged by today’s news, and look forward to the EPA’s swift action in granting Louisiana primacy.”
