Again, Thank You Jeff Landry for Your Fight Against Opioids

My regular job is oilfield related and many do not know that I was once a paramedic with Acadian Ambulance. Just giving this bit of personal information to put into context what I have to say next. This is from my personal Facebook page

What a way to start the weekend. Stopped for gas in Houma on the way back to New Iberia after work and walked in to the store and onto a guy overdosing on drugs in the Subway next door. Houma PD was already on scene and administered Narcan and the guy had an open airway by the time AASI arrived.

This is just another reason why I am proud of our Attorney General. Jeff was able to get Narcan for first responders to use and this saved this guy’s life.

The opioid problem is very prevalent here in our state. Talk to your kids!!!!

Louisiana Ranks, Yet Again, At the Top of Judicial Hell-Holes

In what should come as no shock to anyone in the Louisiana, the Pelican State has set the standard yet again for one of the worst legal climates in the United States.

This is not surprising, as we have our Governor, Bayou Obama himself, John Bel Edwards, leading the charge in pursuing legal action against the largest employer in our state, the oil and gas industry. With this in mind, why would any company decide to come to this state and start a business?

The entire report can be found here

Let’s decide to say, once and for all, enough is enough. We need tort reform and we need a true conservative leader for our state. Let’s go out and elect Ralph Abraham.

Higgins Votes NO on 3 Democrat Bills Designed to Cripple American Oil & Gas Production

“The oil and gas industry is under assault from Democrats in Congress. Banning energy exploration in these areas threatens millions of American jobs, makes the United States more dependent on foreign oil, and jeopardizes our national security. America is the cleanest and safest energy producer in the world. Instead of waging an ideological war on the oil and gas industry, Congress should be working with President Trump to expand U.S. energy exports and establish American energy dominance.”

LAGOP: Edwards Skips Oil and Gas Event to Beg Socialist “Green New Deal” Supporters for Campaign Cash

Baton Rouge, LA – Today, the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (LOGA) and the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) will hold the first Southern Energy Conference in Lafayette. The event includes a gubernatorial candidate forum, for which the hosts issued an invitation to Governor John Bel Edwards to participate in May – nearly four months in advance.

The oil and gas industry is the largest employer in Louisiana, responsible for over 250,000 direct and indirect jobs and over $2 billion in yearly tax revenue.

But Edwards won’t be there to articulate his vision for the future of the industry that employs more people in Louisiana than any other – or to answer questions about his support for frivolous lawsuits against energy companies that benefit his trial lawyer cronies and kill Louisiana jobs.

Why? He’ll be in Atlanta raising campaign cash from supporters of far-left extremists like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Warren has promised a moratorium on all new offshore leases and is a co-sponsor of the “Green New Deal” pushed by socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which would destroy Louisiana’s energy industry.

Former Georgia Democratic Governor Roy Barnes, a host of the fundraiser, has donated to Warren, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and Hillary Clinton.

Another host, Keith Mason, gave $100,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund in 2016.

“Our economy runs on oil and gas,” explained LAGOP Executive Director Andrew Bautsch. “Green New Deal supporting socialists like John Bel Edwards and Elizabeth Warren are destroying Louisiana jobs!”

At least the people of Louisiana will know where their governor is and what he’s doing when he travels out of state this time. Edwards’ out-of-state trips are typically shrouded in secrecy, including as recently as yesterday when his office refused to tell reporters what he was up to in Houston.

This follows a pattern of Edwards refusing to answer questions and hiding basic information about trips to out-of-state locations including New York City, California, and the Kentucky Derby from the media and the public.

After Rispone Decided to Go After Fellow Republican, Cajun Conservatism Endorses Ralph Abraham

In what has to be the absolute dumbest political move in the governor’s race thus far, Eddie Rispone’s campaign has decided to go the way of Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle in the last election and attack a fellow Republican candidate. A piece that started running on television yesterday goes after Congressman Ralph Abraham on what can only be described as total irrelevant issues.

As a result, Cajun Conservatism will publicly endorse Ralph Abraham for governor. Congressman Abraham is a proven conservative with a record that reflects such.

Rispone should immediately pull the ad and issue a statement repudiating it. If not, it will only show that he is in bed with the Edwards campaign.

Steve Forbes: Pelosi's 'Medicare-for-all' strategy looks a lot like a big wooden horse

Medicare-for-all would wipe out the entire American insurance industry, taking with it all exchange plans and all employer and union-provided health care coverage. Half a million U.S. jobs would be eliminated.

But Pelosi, ultra-liberal that she is at heart, still craves "Medicare-for-all" as much as anyone. She just knows she’s going to have to be tricky to get it done.

LAGOP: Super PAC Supporting John Bel Edwards Fueled by Left-Wing Pro-Abortion and Anti-Gun Activist Groups

Baton Rouge, LA – The latest campaign finance report discloses that 79% of the money contributed to Gumbo PAC during the last reporting period came from two left-wing Washington D.C. based donors: The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) and The National Education Association (NEA).

This new report shows an additional $500,000 contribution to Gumbo PAC from the hyper-liberal DGA, bringing the total contributed by the DGA this cycle to $1 million.

ef3a6482-26ab-41bc-a0c7-bba7add0d7e8.png

The DGA, which spent millions to help elect Edwards in 2015, has had paid staffers on the ground to help his re-election efforts for months, funded in-part by the $570,780 incontributions from Planned Parenthood Action Fund between 2015-2018.

Both Planned Parenthood and the DGA actively campaign against pro-life legislationacross the country. Earlier this summer, the DGA sent out an email that opened with: “Friends, abortion rights are under attack in the states,” and tweeted that “attacks on women’s health care prove that the threat to women’s reproductive rights is real and present,” referencing legislation similar to Louisiana’s. Leading national Democrats including Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez have called for the party to be “100 percent pro-choice.”

The DGA’s liberal pro-abortion stance is not their only controversial position that is too far left for Louisiana.

A few weeks after sending the latest $500,000 check to Team JBE, the DGA attacked the Second Amendment (and President Trump) in a letter demanding “red flag laws, passing universal background checks, outlawing assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and establishing stricter reporting requirements to prevent those deemed by a mental health professional to be a danger to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm.”

The other Washington D.C.-based liberal activist group supporting John Bel Edwards is the National Education Association (NEA). The latest campaign finance report shows a new $350,000 contribution to Gumbo PAC from the left-wing NEA.

c5b4125d-0b3c-4045-9c03-b224762f4a25.png

Earlier this summer, the NEA adopted a new “business item” declaring “The NEA vigorously opposes all attacks on the right to choose and stands on the fundamental right to abortion under Roe v. Wade.”

Of course, that is not their only left-wing position that is out of sync with the vast majority of Louisiana citizens. Like the DGA, the NEA has also decided to disregard the Second Amendment and take a liberal position on gun control. “We believe assault weapons and high capacity magazines are weapons of war that belong only in the hands of our military and law enforcement officers.”

“John Bel’s campaign commercials say that he is pro-life and pro-gun, but this campaign finance report shows clearly that he is just another left-wing democrat,” said LAGOP Executive Director Andrew Bautsch. “If he really believed in protecting the right to life, if he really believed in protecting the Second Amendment, he would not accept this dirty money.

LAGOP: As Controversies Surround John Bel Edwards, Louisiana Republicans Launch FIREJBE.com

Baton Rouge, LA – For generations, the Edwards Family has been fueled by political power and influence. Surrounded by federal investigators for decades, the Edwards Family represents everything wrong with politics in Louisiana.

Today, the Republican Party of Louisiana has launchedwww.FIREJBE.com to keep the public informed about the scandals and controversies surrounding John Bel Edwards and his family.

With 30 days left until Election Day and Early Voting starting in almost two weeks, we will continue to update the page as news breaks and new controversies bubble to the surface.

These are just a FEW of the questionable activities surrounding Louisiana's First Family. Leaving a trail of insider deals, political favors and crooked cops, all the way from Tangipahoa Parish to the Governor’s mansion.

“The people of Louisiana had to learn the hard way: This new Governor Edwards is just as corrupt as the last one,” said LAGOP Executive Director Andrew Bautsch.

This fall take back YOUR state. FIRE John Bel Edwards!

BRIGGS: Louisiana’s In A Crisis: Time to Demand a Plan

public.jpeg

Gifford Briggs, President of the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association

If ever there was a reason for voters to wake up and get to the polls this October, this is it. Hardworking Louisiana citizens are losing jobs, people are fleeing the state, and economic growth continues to lag behind the rest of the nation.

While lower taxes and less regulation have helped unleash the American workforce to create jobs and opportunity across the nation, people across the Pelican State continue to suffer.

To be blunt, we are in crisis.

Let’s talk first about jobs, one of the best indicators of a state’s health. We are losing jobs- a lot of them. From July 2018 to July 2019, Louisiana lost 1,000 jobs – the only state to lose jobs over that time period. Every job loss represents one fewer table that gets food put on it. It likely represents one more new Texas license plate.

Of the twelve southern states, Louisiana is the only one with a receding labor force. Mississippi, that’s right Mississippi, created 19,000 more jobs than we did in the last year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Texas created 335,600 more jobs than the Pelican State. Meanwhile, leaders from Baton Rouge are strangling Louisiana’s energy sector and demonizing our industry job creators. A new national study by 24/7 Wall Street found Lafayette’s metro area, the heart of our oil and gas industry, had the nation’s third-highest loss of jobs over the past five years, a stark contrast to 106 consecutive months of U.S. job growth.

Bottom line: the Texodus is alive and well.

Then as we zero in to the specifics of Louisiana’s oil and gas industry, there’s no way to sugar coat it: we are experiencing historically low drilling activity. Five active rigs in South Louisiana? To put this in context, when the crash in the 80’s hit Louisiana hard, billboards in Acadiana read - “Last one to leave, turn out the lights.” South Louisiana had over 55 rigs - ten times that of today - active on land and inland waters.

As further evidence of the critical status of the industry in South Louisiana, this August’s state lease sale boasted a shocking total of zero bids. Zero. This is simply unacceptable. In fact, the past 5 lease sales have netted less than $1 million . This represents huge losses in revenue for our state, that likely will have to be made up through increased taxes or reductions in services. With the handcuffing of our energy sector, our communities are weakened and our state is weakened. Enough is enough.

The silver lining here is that we are at a crossroads. We have an opportunity in 2019 to change course, to bring back jobs and elect leaders that can help rebuild Louisiana’s oil and natural gas industry.

In addition to state lawmakers, we will also elect parish councilmen, school board members, sheriffs, and even a Supreme Court justice. But no single decision will impact our economic future more than the choice we will make for governor.

So please join me in calling on the candidates to provide a bold, ambitious plan to bring back jobs and unleash the power of our state’s bedrock industry.

It is our duty to hold those asking for our vote accountable for the well-being of our hardworking citizens that make up Louisiana’s economy. All you have to do is take the time to ask them about their position on specific policy solutions. Ask them: What’s your plan to resurrect Louisiana’s energy industry? How will you work to bring jobs and investments back to South Louisiana?

Louisiana workers and families want to thrive along with the rest of the nation, instead of looking for work in Texas. Join us in talking to candidates and demand a plan.

Together, you and I – along with thousands of our friends and neighbors across the state – can break the broken status quo and bring jobs and opportunity to Louisiana.

Have You Seen the “Honor Code” Pic With the Little League Champs

public.jpeg

On a recent visit to the Governor’s Mansion, the World Champs from River Ridge were treated to the now sold out Popeye’s chicken sandwiches.

Not content in letting this moment be about the boys, the arrogant Cajun Obama made it about himself and put himself in front of the boys.

If this doesn’t scream arrogance, nothing else does.

Grow Louisiana Coalition: Industry Partners to Build Artificial Reefs

Despite what the likes of John Bel Edwards and his lawyer cronies think of the oil and gas industry in our state, the industry does lots to support both our economy and the environment. For instance, they’ve partnered with a local group in installing reefs in places where platforms were once used in oil and gas production.

Shoutout to the unsung heroes of our state, the men and women who keep us powered. I’m proud to work in this industry that supports my family and thousands of other families throughout Louisiana.

It Costs What!? Why Prices Rise and Fall - and Why We Don’t Need Pharma Price Controls

Recently we've been hearing politicians such as Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) chomping at the bit to put price controls on pharmaceutical drugs, with almost no sense of economics or history about how prices change over time.

In 1926, a nice radio cost $7,175 (in 2019 dollars), and it took up more space than the giant flat screen you probably have in the family room. Speaking of TVs, in 2007, a 50-inch HDTV cost $7,046 (models of the same size and with much better quality go for about $250 today). In the "golden age" of airplane travel, tickets cost at least double today's prices. In 1975, buying and selling stock cost $100 per transaction (it's now less than $5). And calling your aunt in Los Angeles from New York for ten minutes cost $27.75. The same call now is practically free -- 2.3 cents per minute -- or actually free, with a service like Skype. One measly megabyte of computer memory cost $411 million in 1957 -- now the same amount costs less than a single penny.

LAGOP: As the radical resistance comes to Louisiana, where is John Bel Edwards?

Baton Rouge, LA - Three leading members of the radical liberal “resistance” are descending on Louisiana this weekend for the College Democrats Summer Conference in New Orleans.

California Rep. Maxine Waters, “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams are at Tulane University this weekend, motivating their socialist troops to reelect Governor John Bel Edwards.

Despite his best efforts to fool Louisiana voters, Edwards’ connections to the radical left are well-established.

He was a vocal supporter and superdelegate for Hillary Clinton, who advocates for Democrats to “resist, insist, persist, enlist” against President Trump. Far-left groups including the George Soros backed American Bridge, pro-impeachment Indivisible, and Abrams’ Fair Fight 2020 are supporting his reelection. And Edwards even donated $5,000 to Abrams’ failed gubernatorial campaign last year.

John Bel Edwards and Louisiana Democrats need to answer – do they support the radical positions and hateful statements espoused by Abrams, Tlaib, and Waters?

Abrams has suggested that illegal immigrants are part of the “blue wave” electorate: “But the thing of it is, the blue wave is African-American. It’s white, it’s Latino, it’s Asian-Pacific Islander. It is disabled. It is differently-abled. It is LGBTQ. It is law enforcement. It is veterans. It is made up of those who've been told that they are not worthy of being here. It is comprised of those who are documented and undocumented."

Abrams supports efforts to impeach President Trump:VIDEO: “[I]mpeachment is absolutely a lever we need to look at…”

Abrams attacked law enforcement officers, equating them with terrorists: “Democratic candidate for Georgia governor Stacey Abrams said Wednesday night that a program of the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office ‘terrorizes families.’”

Tlaib used vulgar language when calling for the impeachment of President Trump: VIDEO: “We’re going to go in and impeach the motherf***er.”

Tlaib supports abolishing ICE and claims that the agency has “militarized” communities: “Southwest Detroit is militarized because of ICE. It’s not keeping our families safe—it’s making families live in fear. It’s an international border neighborhood. [ICE has] shifted toward targeting Americans and our neighbors, folks trying to do the right thing. It’s made immigration a militarized operation. I want it abolished.”

Waters encouraged her supporters to harass Trump administration officials in public places like restaurants and gas stations: "Let's make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Waters stated that members of the Tea Party movement could “go straight to hell”: This is a tough game. You can't be intimidated. You can't be frightened. And as far as I'm concerned -- the Tea Party can go straight to hell.”

Waters supports allowing the federal government to take control of private companies:“And guess what this liberal will be all about. This liberal will be all about socializ… uh, uh … would be about [long pause] basically taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

LAGOP: DisGraced Notes: Drew Brees should’ve known better than to associate with victim silencer and enabler of a known sexual predator

The local left-wing media is currently OUTRAGED that Saints quarterback Drew Brees appeared in a commercial to promote a program dedicated to getting Bibles into schools. Yes, you read that right. Earlier this week, left-wing ideologues descended on the group and decided to rebrand this clearly pro-Christian advertisement into some manufactured LGBTQ crisis. Then, they decided to make Brees guilty by association. This episode has definitely taught Brees a lesson. No matter how great a guy you are, no matter how much you give back, no matter how important you are to the city – today’s virtue signaling, outrage driven media will always think they know better than you. They will never miss an opportunity to cut you down just to score social points and they will always use their shrinking platform to force their agenda onto you and your family through shame and manufactured outrage. What a stark change in tone from last month when the exact same media outlet was gushing about Brees throwing footballs with their chosen Governor John Bel Edwards, or appearing in a conveniently timed “public service announcement” with the same desperate candidate. That is how it works with today’s Trump-deranged media, ANYTHING is ok, ANYTHING can be justified, as long as it promotes THEIR political agenda, but as soon as you invade their safe space and they feel triggered…watch out. If John Bel Edwards were conservative (LOL), you would have read the headline above in The Advocate a month ago.

  • FACT: John Bel Edwards hired a KNOWN sexual predator to be his Deputy Chief of Staff.

  • FACT: This same Deputy Chief of Staff sexually harassed another employee in the Edwards Administration.

  • FACT: In the middle of the state’s “fiscal cliff” debate, John Bel Edwards paid oversix figures in settlement and legal fees, all paid withTAXPAYER MONEY.

  • FACT: Attorneys for John Bel Edwards and his Deputy Chief of Staff included a “non-disparagement clause” as part of the settlement tosilence the victim.

As triggered opinion writer Stephanie Grace hypocritically notes in today's Advocate, “A guy like him (Drew Brees) has to know that any group (or desperate politician running for reelection) would want to have its profile boosted by, well, a guy like him…He really should be more careful about how he lets other people with other agendas use it.” Drew Brees is NOT responsible for every opinion of Focus on the Family, just like Brees is NOT responsible for John Bel Edwards hiring a sexual predator and then silencing his victim. Drew Brees is responsible for throwing touchdowns and winning another Super Bowl. Brees is responsible for the words that come out of HIS mouth. That’s it. Louisiana loves football because it is everything politics isn’t. While the media is using politics to drive us apart – in Louisiana, we use sports to bring folks together. When it comes to football, let’s all just leave our politics on the sidelines.

Baton Rouge, LA – With college football kicking off in Louisiana this weekend, the Republican Party of Louisiana released a new digital ad.
