Rep. Johnson: Lawsuit to be filed Friday to challenge Shreveport mayor's mask mandate

Congressman Mike Johnson said a lawsuit will be filed on Friday against the City of Shreveport over its recent mask mandate.

The congressman said in a post on Facebook Thursday that, while he thinks it’s a good idea to encourage people to wear a mask, he doesn't believe the city has the authority to force people to do so.

Attorney General Jeff Landry Joins Family Research Council's Washington Watch Radio to Discuss a Guidance on Religious Expression in Public Schools

"We want students to know that they have a right to express their religious beliefs and that their first amendment rights are not surrendered at the schoolhouse door." Landry went on, "Both Congressman Mike Johnson and I worked collectively over a number of months to put together a student rights handbook so that students have a guidance, under which they know they can express their religious beliefs, of what they can do in the public school system."

Republican Mike Johnson will face Democrat Marshall Jones in the December 4 runoff for the 4th Congressional District seat in Louisiana.

It's one of the most significant campaigns remaining in America.

Johnson will be in Lafayette 6:00-7:30 pm on Monday, November 28 for a fund-raising reception at the home of Stuart and Kim Bishop, 111 Southpark Dr. in Lafayette.  RSVP with this form.

Johnson's opponent, Marshall Jones is a Democrat who has been endorsed by fellow Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards and by Louisiana Democrat Party Chair Karen Carter Peterson.

Johnson is a constitutional attorney who has dedicated his life and career to fighting for the fundamental freedoms and traditional values that are still cherished by the people of Louisiana.

As a member of the Louisiana Legislature, Johnson was named an "MVP for Business" by LABI, an "Outstanding Family Advocate" by Louisiana Family Forum and an "A" rating from the NRA Political Action Fund.
