At a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) spoke about Hunter Biden.

Republicans, focus midterms on Biden errors and don't say anything stupid

It’s finally September, and that means we are about to hit the fourth quarter of our midterm election season. Labor Day marks the traditional beginning of the period when it actually matters what candidates do and say. Everyone is paying attention now and every news cycle counts. For months, the "experts" in Washington, D.C., predicted a red wave for Republicans in November but now the very same "experts" are having second thoughts.
In March, the Wall Street Journal’s generic ballot poll – conducted by Trump pollster and my friend Tony Fabrizio – showed Republicans ahead five points. Last week, the same poll had Democrats up three. A staggering political shift in just six months.
Let me be clear. President Joe Biden is NOT responsible for his party’s shifting fortunes. The midterms are no longer a referendum on his thin record. Instead, we now have a choice election with a GOP brand that has seen much better days.

Jeff Landry steps into legal fight over Trump's handling of top secret documents found at Mar-a-Lago
Attorney General Jeff Landry has stepped into Donald Trump’s legal fight with the Biden administration over Trump’s handling of classified documents after leaving office.
Landry signed on to a friend-of-the-court brief filed Tuesday by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Florida, which is handling the legal dispute. The court is considering whether the Justice Department should be able to resume a criminal investigation into classified documents seized last month at Trump’s private Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, or whether a special master should review the thousands of documents first.

Louisiana Family Forum’s Legislative Awards Gala
Tuesday night’s Legislative Awards Gala was certainly an evening to remember! As we opened the interview with AG Lynn Fitch and Solicitor General Stewart (click here to watch; this portion begins around the 1:12:00 mark), they each make compelling confessions which sent chills throughout the room!
“I think there’s something magical in boldness, and standing up for the right thing in the right way,” said Stewart. And when the Attorney General first spoke, she said:
“First, I have to say to each of you, we could not have done what we did without your prayers and support. We felt the compassion, the love, the empowerment every single day as we got prepared for Scott to make the argument as the brief was being written. Everything revolved around our being uplifted by you.”
If that doesn’t confirm our purpose in Team LFF’s mission, then I don’t know what will!
See pictorial synopsis of the 2022 LFF Legislative Awards Gala here
Thank you to everyone who attended and for those of you who joined online. Your prayers and support are the fuel that keeps Team LFF going as we work to make Louisiana an even better place for families.
The Legislative Awards Gala was deemed by many “the best ever!!!”
My reflections began at 1 hour 50 minute mark and the ringing of the bell brought the house to its feet in celebration! Check it out here.

Judge Dismisses Defamation Lawsuit Against Citizens for a New Louisiana
A Louisiana judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit that a librarian filed against two men and a conservative organization last month over statements they made criticizing her for supporting the inclusion in a library of books involving the LGBTQ community.
Amanda Jones, who is a middle school librarian and the president of the Louisiana Association of School Librarians, filed the lawsuit after she said she was publicly attacked for opposing censorship and “book policing.” The conservative advocacy group Citizens for a New Louisiana, led by Michael Lunsford, and Ryan Thames made a series of posts online criticizing Jones, but the judge ruled that their statements were ones of opinion and not fact.

CASE DISMISSED: Victory For Parents And Their Children
LDH Official Repeals COVID Shot Mandate for School
BATON ROUGE, LA - This year, parents and guardians stood together in opposition to the COVID-19 shot being required for their children to attend school. As a result of their coming together, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) decided to rescind the mandate for Louisiana students. As of yesterday, it has officially been repealed.
In light of this victory for parents and their children, Attorney General Jeff Landry has filed a motion to dismiss the Crews v. Edwards case, wherein he sought to have the vaccine mandate enjoined and issued the following statement:
"Today is the culmination of hard work by so many concerned parents throughout Louisiana. This is the direct result of moms, dads, grandparents, and guardians fighting for what is right. I thank Representative Raymond Crews, Health Freedom Louisiana, the Bayou Mama Bears, Town Hall Baton Rouge, Children’s Health Defense, and all those from across Louisiana that stood with us for parental choice.
Child medical decisions should be made by their guardians, not the government. I hope this health freedom victory reminds everyone what can happen when we all work together. When citizens are engaged and get involved, their government will listen."
Kennedy calls on Garland to extend special counsel authority for Hunter Biden investigation
WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) today joined Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and 30 Republican colleagues in urging U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to extend special counsel protections and authorities to U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss to conduct the Hunter Biden investigation.
“As you know, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware—led by U.S. Attorney Weiss—has been investigating Hunter Biden. There is no way of knowing the entire scope of the investigation, but evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations,” the senators wrote.
“Given that the investigation involves the President’s son, we believe it is important to provide U.S. Attorney Weiss with special counsel authorities and protections to allow him to investigate an appropriate scope of potentially criminal conduct, avoid the appearance of impropriety, and provide additional assurances to the American people that the Hunter Biden investigation is free from political influence,” they continued.
“Given the politicization of the DOJ under your watch and the importance of avoiding any appearance of impropriety, the undersigned request that you provide U.S. Attorney Weiss the full protections and authorities of a special counsel. This is one important action that you can take that will go a long way in restoring faith in our governmental institutions,” concluded the lawmakers.

JINDAL: Republicans Should Embrace Grace | Opinion

Despite their protests to the contrary, Democrats seem determined to keep Donald Trump at the center of the nation's political stage. From the FBI's raid on Mar-a-Lago to Joe Biden's recent speech at Independence Hall excoriating Trump's followers, if the current administration wanted to ensure Trump is the 2024 Republican nominee, this seems like a good way to do it. As fractured and radical as the Democrats are, they require something or someone else to run against.
The raid and speech intensified Republican interest in the midterm elections, but also make things harder for those Republicans wanting to move beyond Trump in 2024. The raid was a bad day for Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Larry Hogan, and others with similar ambitions. One anti-Clinton voter said, "God must have a sense of humor. He is going to make me vote for Donald Trump again." Democrats, on the other hand, may consider the Philadelphia speech a master stroke for 2024, as they truly believe Trump is the weakest possible Republican candidate and hope to make him unbeatable within his own party.

WSJ: Biden’s Cancer ‘Moonshot’ Contradiction
By the Editorial Board
President Biden this week gave a speech promoting his Cancer Moonshot initiative and a new government health agency that he says will drive treatment breakthroughs. As usual, he gave no credit to drug makers that are producing game-changing treatments such as Amgen’s Lumakras for lung cancer.
Lung cancer kills more Americans than any other cancer. The five-year survival rate is a mere 18.6% and 5% for advanced forms. Treatments targeting particular protein or gene mutations have improved survival odds for breast, melanoma and some other cancers. But cancers driven by a mutation in the KRAS gene have eluded these breakthroughs, and lung cancer is one of them.
The KRAS gene regulates cell growth and division, and mutations are found in many tumors, including 32% of lung and 90% of pancreatic cancers. Yet the KRAS protein has long been considered “undruggable” because its small size and smooth surface are difficult for drug molecules to block. Amgen’s Lumakras pill proves it can be done.
The Food and Drug Administration last May approved Lumakras under its accelerated approval pathway for patients with advanced non-small lung cancer bearing a particular KRAS gene mutation. Results from early trials showed promise and this week were borne out by a late-stage trial that showed more than twice as many patients responded to the drug than they did to chemotherapy.
A quarter of patients receiving Lumakras lived at least a year without their cancer getting worse compared to 10% who received chemotherapy. Survival benefits were hard to assess since a third of the chemotherapy patients received Lumakras after their disease progressed. Amgen also announced results from a separate small trial this week showing Lumakras may help patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
The drug is by no means a cure, but progress occurs at the margin and some patients who had what amounted to a death sentence now have hope to live. Lumakras is also much less brutal than chemotherapy.
Yet the drug might not have been developed had the Medicare take-it-or-leave-it negotiations that Democrats recently enacted been in effect earlier. Their price controls will penalize in particular small-molecule drugs like Lumakras that have the potential to help large numbers of patients. Within six years, Lumakras could be targeted by bureaucrats for price controls and the payoff on Amgen’s investment could vanish.
Mr. Biden’s price-control policy contradicts his desire to promote faster cancer cures. The damage will come in slower therapies and patients who might have been saved.
