A reported $1 million television advertising campaign targeting Rick Edmonds is bringing new attention to Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District contest, where State Senator Blake Miguez and Edmonds are competing for the congressional seat.
The reported advertising buy, scheduled to begin September 23 in the Baton Rouge television market, comes as the candidates approach the final weeks of the campaign ahead of Election Day.
Club for Growth Enters the Race
The reported advertising campaign is associated with Club for Growth, a national conservative political organization that has endorsed Miguez in the race for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District.
Club for Growth PAC announced its endorsement of Miguez on August 17, 2026. The organization supports candidates who share its positions on economic issues, including lower taxes, limited government spending and reduced regulation.
The new television advertisement, titled "Sellout," targets Edmonds. The reported $1 million advertising buy represents a substantial investment in the Baton Rouge television market as the November election approaches.
Public television political advertising records show that Club for Growth Action PAC had advertising filings with Baton Rouge station WGMB-TV dated September 16, 2026. However, the full $1 million amount and the precise schedule of the reported buy have not been independently confirmed.
Advertising Buy Exceeds Edmonds' Reported Cash Reserves
The size of the reported advertising campaign is notable when compared with Edmonds' most recently available campaign finance figures.
According to Federal Election Commission records covering January 1 through July 18, 2026, Edmonds reported $530,592 in total campaign receipts, $197,152 in expenditures and $323,040 in cash on hand. His receipts included $155,000 in loans from the candidate.
The reported $1 million television buy is approximately three times Edmonds' July 18 cash-on-hand balance.
The advertising expenditure is independent spending rather than a contribution to Miguez's campaign. Federal law requires super PACs to operate independently of candidates and their authorized campaign committees.
November Election Approaching
Louisiana voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to select their next representative in the 6th Congressional District.
The congressional election will be conducted under Louisiana's open-primary system, with candidates from multiple political parties appearing on the same ballot.
If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff election between the two candidates receiving the most votes will be held on December 12, 2026.
The reported Club for Growth advertising campaign adds another element to the congressional contest as candidates continue fundraising, advertising and communicating with voters during the final six weeks before Election Day.
