Opinion: Americans in Lake Charles, La., are frustrated. We need aid now.

As the first anniversary of Hurricane Laura approaches, and after enduring three additional weather disasters, we are still waiting and pleading for an equitable response from Washington. We’ve repeatedly, desperately implored both the Trump and Biden administrations and Congress. Both presidents visited my city, both promised additional aid. We’ve been told help is on the way, but as the days turn into months, we are left feeling that our federal government is willing to ignore a humanitarian crisis in Southwest Louisiana.

Trump: A Win in 2020 and Lake Charles Gets a New Bridge

In what was likely a moment of levity during his visit today, President Trump promised a new bridge on I10 for Lake Charles if he is re-elected. Or, it may have been because the motorcade had to cross that disaster. Either way, see the video below:

Frank Levingston, Oldest World War II Veteran and Lake Charles Resident, Travels to Washington

Louisiana resident and the oldest living World War II veteran, Frank Levingston, was a guest in Rep. Charles Boustany's office during his recent visit to Washington as part of an Honor Flight from New Orleans.  Levingston is a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack on Dec. 7, 1941 and has recently turned 110.
