10 Days and Counting with No Comment from Louisiana Democrats on Senator Troy Brown’s Domestic Assault Arrests

Press release from the Louisiana Republican Party

image.jpg

Ten days ago, State Senator Troy Brown (D-Napoleonville) was arrested for the second time in under a year for domestic assault. Ten days later, Louisianians have yet to hear a single word from Governor John Bel Edwards or leaders of the Louisiana Democrat Party regarding this matter. Not one. Not a rebuke…nor a call for his resignation…There’s not been so much as a whisper from the fourth floor of the Capitol.

The Republican Party of Louisiana has called into question on numerous occasions why nothing has been said; why little has been reported on in the media.

“Where’s the outrage?” asked LAGOP Executive Director Jason Doré. “Where is the call for his resignation? Were he a professional athlete, he would have been fired for attacks on women. Were he a Republican, the Democrat headquarters on Government Street would be abuzz with activity calling for his ouster.”

The fact that Troy Brown hasn’t stepped down is one thing, but the LADEMO chair’s silence is another. State Senator Karen Carter Peterson should be outraged at Senator Brown’s behavior. She said on the floor of the DNC Convention this week in Philadelphia that violence “does not define us.” Why, then, is she complicit in violence against women, by remaining mum on the matter?

“If love trumps hate, then why do leaders in the Democrat Party here in Louisiana not stand up to such hateful acts of violence and call on Troy Brown to resign?” asked Doré. He went on to say that, “Inaction by those who have the ability force the issue only shows one thing: Louisiana Democrats are trying to ignore this story and hope it will go away.”

Just as Democrats have done at their convention in Philadelphia by pretending the threat of terrorism doesn’t exist, to protect their image, they are pretending charges of the assault on two women by Senator Troy Brown isn’t a reality to protect one of their own. This behavior is ridiculous, and Louisiana deserves better.

The Republican Party of Louisiana calls on Senator Troy Brown to resign and encourages Louisiana Democrats, especially Governor Edwards, to practice what they preach and stand up for victims of domestic violence by joining our call for Brown’s resignation.

Boustany Says Democrats’ Misguided Sit-In ‘Misses the Point’

(Washington, DC) – Dr. Charles Boustany released the following statement as House Democrats held a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives to protest lack of action on gun control measures after the terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, earlier this month.

Boustany said: “The Democrats gutted the military, tied the hands of the intelligence community, and deny the murderous nature of radical Islam, but they still blame the Constitution for terrorism. This sit-in shows the Democrats haven’t just missed the point on this issue; they’re not even playing in the same ballpark. Louisiana families have lost their jobs, their healthcare, and now their security is at risk because of the policies of this President and congressional Democrats.

“Why won’t they sit-in to lower healthcare costs, reform the tax code, and get our economy moving again? The people of Louisiana are waiting for an answer.”

Louisiana Family Forum: Edwards' Tax Gets Second Shot!

From LFF 60-Second Brigade Alert System
June 2016

Last week, the The House Ways and Means Committee voted 11-10 to stop a key aspect of the Edwards' tax plan.

On Wednesday, the committee will again vote on an identical measure, HB38 by Rep. Malinda White (D) of Bogalusa.

The fiscal note on the bill indicates it would cost taxpayers $643 million over 5 years.

The Agenda indicates the measure is "Subject to Rules Suspension."  This should indicate that a 2/3 majority of House members present must vote for suspending the rules in order to consider this new tax proposal.

It's no secret that the Governor has been individually lobbying members of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, trying to persuade them to flip favorable on their vote.

If you think $643 million in new taxes on the shoulders of middle Louisiana is too much, then now is the time to speak up. HB38 is a short bill, so read it carefully.

Here's what it does: HB38 empowers the state to eliminate a percentage of federal itemized deductions from individual state taxes. The deductions that would be dramatically reduced include:

  • Federal Taxes Paid,
  • Medical Expenses,
  • Charitable Donations, and
  • Mortage Interest.

Contact House members of the Ways and Means Committee here and express your concern!.

Mitch Landrieu Say "No" to Senate Run

In an announcement today, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu has decided against running for the Senate seat that will become open when Sen. David Vitter steps down at the end of his current term.

"We are in the midst of one of the greatest comeback stories this country has ever seen, but my work here in New Orleans is not yet done. In this time of unique challenges for our city and our state, I believe I can best serve our people by finishing the job I started five and a half years ago," Landrieu said Thursday (Dec. 4) in a statement. "Therefore, I will not be a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2016."

In "comeback stories", I'm assuming Landrieu means not paying firefighters due money, removal of historical monuments in the City of New Orleans and the growing crime problem in the city.  If so, then yes, he's doing one hell of a job in a "comeback story".

Did You See How Republicans are Helping a Democrat Become Speaker of the House?

The Hayride has posted a piece that names several Republican legislators that are on the fence regarding Speaker of the House in the Louisiana Legislature.  Supposedly, these "Republican" legislators are on board in having Walt Leger, liberal Democrat from the New Orleans area, elected to the top position within the House of Representatives.

Contact information for each one of these legislators were also posted on the piece and are below, just in case anyone would like to let them know how they feel on this issue.

Steve Pylant (Winnsboro)
*Rob Shadoin (Ruston)
Joe Lopinto (Metairie)
Bryan Adams (Gretna)
Stephanie Hilferty (New Orleans)
*Tanner Magee (Houma)
Paula Davis (Baton Rouge)
*J. Rogers Pope (Denham Springs)
Thomas Wilmott (Kenner)
Bubba Chaney (Rayville)
Chris Leopold (Belle Chasse)
Frank Hoffman (West Monroe)

It's time for Republicans to act like Republicans and stop giving into the whims of a yet to be sworn Governor "Honor Code".

Where Are The Sanctimonious Vitter Haters on This???

The self-righteousness and sanctimonious crowd that just couldn't bring themselves to vote for Sen. David Vitter for an indiscretion that occurred over 15 years ago and for which he was forgiven by his wife are awfully quiet with the release of news that State Senator Troy Brown, Democrat from District 2, was arrested for assault on a woman over the weekend while in New Orleans.  And what should be even more disturbing to the morally outraged crowd is that this woman is, in her own words, his "side woman".

Frankly, if we are going to give the same treatment to this elected official that was given to Sen. Vitter in his run for Governor, this Senator should immediately be repudiated and asked to step down for the sake of our State.  I mean, it's only fair that we treat someone who's got a recent history of issues with women the same treatment that was given to another with something that happened over a decade ago.

What's that I hear?  Oh, it's the crickets chirping from Gov. Elect "Honor Code" and the rest of the sanctimonious base.

Pitiful.......................

John Bel Edwards Touts His West Point Honor Code, But Then There's This

Retired General Wesley Clark, valedictorian of the West Point class of 1966 and former Democrat Presidential Candidate, is divorcing his wife amid accusations of infidelity on his part.  He and his wife have been married for nearly 50 years and Clark has been reported as being in a relationship with a 30 year old woman.

If the "honor code" is of such great significance that John Bel Edwards has to remind us of it in each of his releases, then this must not go without notice.  Surely someone that was a valedictorian of West Point must live to the highest of the "honor code" values touted by Bel Edwards.

What the State of Louisiana needs right now is a leader.  John Bel Edwards should be commended on his service to country, but his services are no longer needed.

Louisiana Democrat Endorsed Candidate for Attorney General Endorses Jeff Landry

Following the primary election in Louisiana for Attorney General, in which incumbent Buddy Caldwell and Jeff Landry secured a spot in the runoff, the Louisiana Democrat endorsed candidate, Geri Broussard Baloney, has come out in support of Landry today.  Citing his support for transforming the office, Ms. Baloney stated that Landry would be the best person for the job over the current officeholder.

She went further in her endorsement:

“After meeting with Jeff Landry, followed by prayerful consideration with my family, I have decided to endorse Jeff Landry because of his willingness to embrace forward thinking policies, his desire to actually transform and change the way the Attorney General’s office does business.

I ran for Attorney General because I truly believe that Louisiana cannot take another four years of Buddy Caldwell’s bad practices and policies. Jeff Landry is the only candidate that will address the critical issues that are important to Louisiana’s working families. Jeff is committed to reforming our broken criminal justice system. He understands the need for fiscal responsibility and inclusion in the Attorney General’s office. In addition, like myself, Jeff is an entrepreneur. He understands the important role small businesses play in our economy and will fight to protect our businesses.

Louisiana needs an Attorney General that will not squander the agencies resources to make brownie points with his political party. Jeff knows that crime and corruption have no boundaries or political party. I believe that Jeff is a coalition builder who will end the Buddy system of doling out huge no-bid contracts to political contributors. Instead, I believe that Jeff Landry will put the people of Louisiana first.

With so many problems facing our State, there is no question that Jeff Landry should be the next Attorney General for Louisiana. I invite all of my supporters to join me in supporting Jeff Landry for Attorney General.”

Congressman Landry had the following to say during the endorsement press conference:

“I am humbled to receive Geri’s endorsement, trust, and confidence.

Geri is like so many other Louisiana voters who know we need change in Baton Rouge. Geri and I both know the Attorney General’s office under Buddy Caldwell has been about rewarding the desires of a few, over the needs of the many.

Justice should not be based on who you are, what part of the state you are from, your gender, your age, your political party, or your race. As Louisiana’s next Attorney General I will treat everybody fairly and equally so all citizens can develop trust that their government is there to work for them, not against them.”

The vote total for the two candidates combined in the primary totaled over 50%.

John Bel Edwards Bragging About Huey Long's Legacy

John Bel Edwards fancies himself a different type of Democrat.  He claims to be many things to many people to portray himself differently than the modern Democrat Party.  However, when you really take a look at the man and catch him speaking openly, you'll see the true Bel Edwards.  He's nothing more than another tax and spend liberal, as evident in this video that was found on YouTube.  He's bragging about being a Democrat and associating the policies of Huey Long and the Democrat Party.  This is the true face of the liberal Bel Edwards and why we don't need another liberal Democrat running Louisiana at this time in history.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

Last evening, "conservative" Democrat John Bel Edwards appeared at a meeting in St. Tammany Parish with Karen Carter Peterson, state senator and head of the Louisiana Democrat Party.  She is also the same person that stated any criticism of Obama is paramount to racism.

Bel Edwards is no "conservative" Democrat, as evidenced in one of his recent debate performances. He has gone on record stating that he support Obama, supports Planned Parenthood while pretending to be pro-life and supports his Party, in general.

Louisiana doesn't need to fall for another sheep in wolves' clothing.  This guy is a dyed in the wool liberal Democrat, as evidenced by past statements and his "running crew", the likes of Karen Carter Peterson.  As the old saying goes, birds of a feather flock together.

LAGOP Issues Press Release on Hillary Clinton's Visit to Baton Rouge

In a press release issued on Monday, the LAGOP had to say the following concerning the abysmal showing for Clinton's visit to Baton Rouge:

Hillary Fails to Draw 1/3 the Crowd of Sanders

Today in Baton Rouge, Hillary Clinton failed to draw even one-third of the crowd that self-proclaimed socialist Senator Bernie Sanders drew in his visit to Louisiana a few weeks ago. According to press reports, Clinton, who was aided by Louisiana Democrat Party Chair Karen Carter Peterson, only attracted 1,200 supporters. In August, more than 4,500 people attended Sanders’ rally in Kenner.

“While the state Democrat Party is apparently in the bag for Hillary, it is clear the voters of Louisiana are ready for anyone but Hillary,” Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere said.

Notably absent from today’s Clinton rally was the Louisiana Democrat Party’s handpicked gubernatorial candidate, Rep. John Bel Edwards.

"Undoubtedly, Edwards is doing his best to achieve what many statewide Democrat candidates before him have failed to do--ally himself with Democrat Party leaders and donors while at the same time convincing the voters of Louisiana that he doesn’t really believe in their far left wing policies,” Villere said. “At the event, Hillary doubled down on her support for Obamacare, which is hurting Louisiana families, but failed to explain why she is seeking to hold Louisiana’s economy captive as she opposes lifting the ban on crude oil exports until she gains "concessions” from the energy industry. No wonder John Bel was hiding. Hillary and her friends who control the state Democrat Party never miss a chance to be out of touch with Louisiana voters.”
