Gov. John Bel Edwards has named his nephew and former law partner Bradley A. Stevens to the board of supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.
Stevens, who lives in Hammond, was one of 14 names announced Monday that Edwards was appointing or reappointing to the UL System board, the Board of Regents and the Southern University board of supervisors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement today after announcing that he will object to the certification of Electoral College votes on January 6, 2021.
“I will object to the certification of electoral votes on January 6th. Reports of voter fraud and actions by some states to alter election processes in an unlawful manner have not been properly reviewed. Evidence that a crime has been committed leads to an investigation. That standard is reasonable suspicion. Investigation into an alleged crime produces evidence either exculpatory or condemning. Investigations crossing multiple jurisdictional authorities are particularly complex and require time. Our Constitutional requirement to inaugurate a President on January 20th does not abrogate our Constitutional requirement to investigate reasonable suspicion of election fraud and violation of election laws within several of the sovereign states. I believe those actions of fraud and illegal election processes thwarted the true will of We, the People, and flipped the Presidential election to career politician Joe Biden. America is not a confederacy of states. We are a Union of States. We are a Representative Republic. Therefore, each sovereign state has a deep obligation to follow its own written election laws when that state participates in a federal election. Otherwise, the Union itself is violated, and the federal election is compromised. I warned of this prior to November 3rd, 2020. Six weeks ago, I instructed my Congressional staff to begin preparing for my formal objection to Electoral slates of several sovereign states. While the mainstream media and establishment forces want to ignore election irregularities that began coming to light in the days following the election, We, the People, will not stand idly by. For over a month now, I have been examining and researching the various allegations that have come forth, and I will take every legal and Constitutionally-available action to ensure a righteous outcome. That includes objecting to the electoral slates from disputed states. There is sufficient evidence, at a minimum, to investigate criminal acts, which may have compromised the integrity of our election. This effort and action to safeguard our election systems must continue, even beyond January 20th, 2021.”

Louisiana, and indeed America, have lost a rising political star with the passing of Luke Letlow. That he was born to politics cannot be doubted. Although still a young man of forty-one, he had capably served on the staff of Congressman Bobby Jindal, then on Governor Jindal’s personal staff, and most recently as Ralph Abraham’s chief of staff.
By all accounts he had paid his dues and mastered the art of politics along the way.
His December 5th election to Congress was seen by all who knew him as a natural progression in the career of a man who actually did enjoy serving his constituents in the very best traditions of American democracy. We all expected that he would go far in politics, and quickly.
If politics can be a brutal game, Luke Letlow had a way of softening its effects on those around him. His kindly personality was an immediate clue to the man’s inherent decency and humanity. While on my way to a late night political meeting with him several years ago, I realized I was not so much preparing to endure another meeting as I was looking forward to seeing Luke again. He was that rare person you looked forward to seeing at all times and under any circumstances.
Above all, Luke must be remembered as the loving husband and father that he was. To his wife, Julia, and his two young children, Jeremiah and Jacqueline, we send our heartfelt condolences.
Luke Letlow will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May we find comfort in his memory as we draw strength from his example.

The order from 16th Judicial District Judge Anthony Thibodeaux granted a request to temporarily block enforcement of the restrictions against Red’s Levee Bar in Catahoula until a hearing slated for Dec. 28.

“I’m a lawyer. I know our courts exist to resolve disputes, but the dispute needs to be real,” Edwards said on his monthly radio call-in show, in his first detailed comments about the election’s outcome.
“If there were real evidence of the kind of voter fraud that has been alleged on a scale to make a difference in the outcome … you would think that in all the weeks since Nov. 3 that they would have been able to produce some evidence of that,” he said. “Really, they haven’t produced any.”

Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory has different ideas on the upcoming New Year’s Eve telecast schedule and subsequently cancelled for New Orleans and the location:
“We would be honored to host Lauren Daigle in Lafayette to ring in 2021. It would be a truly great way to safely say goodbye to 2020," Guillory posted on Facebook.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following today regarding the 2020 elections:
Millions of Louisiana citizens, and tens of millions of our fellow citizens in the country, have deep concerns regarding the conduct of the 2020 federal elections. Deeply rooted in these concerns is the fact that some states appear to have conducted their elections with a disregard to the U.S. Constitution.
Furthermore, many Louisianans have become more frustrated as some in media and the political class try to sidestep legitimate issues for the sake of expediency.
Weeks ago, on behalf of the citizens of Louisiana, my office joined many other states in filing a legal brief with the United States Supreme Court urging the Justices to look into the conduct of the election in Pennsylvania where their state court ignored the U.S. Constitution in regard to the conduct of the election.
The U.S. Constitution in Article 1, Section 4, states plainly: “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature …” The power for the conduct of federal elections is held by the State Legislatures in each state. In states like Pennsylvania, the judicial branch attempted to seize control of these duties and obligations and to set their own rules. These actions appear to be unconstitutional.
If it is unconstitutional for Pennsylvania to take this action, it is similarly unconstitutional for other states to have done the same.
Only the U.S. Supreme Court can ultimately decide cases of real controversy among the states under our Constitution.
That is why the Justices should hear and decide the case which we have joined representing the citizens of Louisiana.
Furthermore, the U.S. Supreme Court should consider the most recent Texas motion, which contains some of the same arguments.
Louisiana citizens are damaged if elections in other states were conducted outside the confines of the Constitution while we obeyed the rules.

(Baton Rouge, LA) – The Republican Party of Louisiana is very disappointed in Judge Morvant's ruling on the Louisiana House's petition to put an end to Governor Edward's government overreach. Time and time again Governor Edwards has taken advantage of his power and used it to control the people of Louisiana. This arbitrary control should have been put to an end TODAY!
Judge Morvant stated that "there's a lot unusual in this case, there is a lot unusual in 2020." We agree! Keeping business closed, children out of school, and people unemployed is indeed unusual. There is no valid reason to continue to allow the Governor to control our lives.

This week AG Jeff Landry led the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) in filing an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court in support of the Pennsylvania GOP challenge of an earlier Pennsylvania high court ruling that allowed the state to count absentee ballots up to three days after Election Day, so long as they were postmarked by November 3, 2020.
Over the last week our country has been rocked by antidotes of voter fraud running rampant throughout the country, but especially in key battle ground states like Pennsylvania. Now, the Attorneys General are imploring the Supreme Court to determine whether the Pennsylvania grace period for mail in ballots is constitutional and those votes legitimate.
“Once all legitimate votes are counted and irregularities are corrected, then irrespective of who the president is, we will continue to ensure that rule of law is protected,” AG Landry said in the RAGA press conference held yesterday.

On Saturday, Rep. Blake Miguez spoke to a crowd at a pro-Trump rally in New Iberia, LA regarding the petition delivered to John Bel Edward’s on Friday that end his mandates on the state in response to COVID-19.
This week AG Landry announced that Google has entered into a series of exclusionary agreements to lock up the primary avenues through which users access search engines and the internet, by requiring that Google be set as the default or exclusive search engine on billions of mobile devices and computers.
"Google has grown into a big tech monopoly that has stifled competition. Without competition, we do not have capitalism; and without capitalism, we do not have America. So I am proud to join Attorney General Bill Barr in this fight for America,” - AG Jeff Landry
The lawsuit specifically alleges that Google has unlawfully maintained monopolies in search and search advertising by:
Entering into exclusivity agreements that forbid preinstallation of any competing search service.
Entering into tying and other arrangements that force preinstallation of its search applications in prime locations on mobile devices and make them undeletable, regardless of consumer preference.
Entering into long-term agreements with Apple that require Google to be the default – and de facto exclusive – general search engine on Apple’s popular Safari browser and other Apple search tools.
Generally using monopoly profits to buy preferential treatment for its search engine on devices, web browsers, and other search access points, creating a continuous and self-reinforcing cycle of monopolization.
Landry said these, and other anticompetitive practices, harm competition and consumers, reducing the ability of innovative new companies to develop, compete, and discipline Google’s behavior.
We’re glad that AG Landry is fighting against the monopolies of Big Tech! They have been stifling competition and controlling internet searches for too long! We need to keep these tech companies in check! As technology becomes more and more important to our everyday lives, companies like Google need to be held accountable for their actions!
