Retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honore Blasts Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell Over BP Settlement

Lt. Gen. Russel Honore has come out with an opinion piece that is critical of the decision by Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell to settle with oilfield giant BP over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  In what amounts to Caldwell being called out for aiding and abetting his big money attorney friends while ignoring the best interests of his state, Honore calls Caldwell to the carpet and states that the state could have gotten a better settlement.

Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell Attends Re-Election Announcement by Democrat Barbara Norton

This week, Louisiana’s Republican-In-Name-Only Attorney General Buddy Caldwell stood side by side with hard-left Democrat State Representative Barbara Norton at her re-election announcement in Shreveport. 

Norton is a prominent member of the Democratic Caucus and the Legislative Black Caucus. Infamously known for believing “shall” does not mean “got to” in legislative language, Norton has been one of the Legislature’s staunchest supporters of Obamacare, gun control, and higher taxes.

So it comes as no surprise that Caldwell, who serenaded and praised Mary Landrieu at Washington Mardi Gras, would endorse another leftist. After all, Caldwell was a Democrat elected official for over 30 years before changing his registration to save his taxpayer-funded job.

This latest episode is further proof that Caldwell changed his party but certainly not his principles.

These are Desperate Times for Louisiana Democrats

In what can only be called a sign of desperation and viewed as grasping for straws, the head of the Louisiana Democratic Party, Karen Carter Peterson, used a satirical website in order to promote a false story concerning Gov. Bobby Jindal.  In her defense, she claimed she knew it was satirical all along, but nonetheless, this made her and the Party look foolish.

Jason Dore' with the Louisiana Republican Party had this to say about the fiasco in an email last night:

"It's a good day in Louisiana if the Democrats are focused on anything other than trying to keep children trapped in failing schools.  That seems to be their mission, so if they want to waste more time attacking Republicans for things we didn't do and for saying things we didn't say, that's fine. A brief look at Louisiana's political environment shows that the voters aren't buying what they're selling any more,"

Not to be outdone, one of the stars in the Democratic Party in Louisiana, Ted James, picked up on this same piece and ran with it later in the evening.  He's since deleted it off of his Twitter page, but with the power of screen shots, it has managed to be captured.  Scott McKay of The Hayride has written a piece on this issue, which can be found here.

Folks, this is what it looks like when a political party is in the death throws in the State of Louisiana.  After losing their brightest star, Mary Landrieu, in the last election, the Democrats are desperate for anything to stick against the wall.  Bobby Jindal can be criticized for plenty of things, but this is just ridiculous.

Another Democrat who Feels the First Amendment is Irrelevant

In the latest installment of the ongoing fight in the State of Oregon regarding a couple who owns a bakery that have refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian wedding, the state's Bureau of Labor and Industries and the Commissioner, Brad Avakian, have issued a cease and desist order regarding the couple's right to voice their opinion on same-sex marriage.  This is on top of a $135K fine that was issued by the same department.

It's one thing to ruin a family business and bankrupt them financially, but it's entirely another when you deny them freedom of speech.

Louisiana Democrats are Asking for You to Pay to Tell Mary Landrieu Goodbye

In what is turning out to be a time of reminiscing, the Louisiana Democrat Party has asked for those that are attending their annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner to drop a few dollars in order to tell Mary Landrieu goodbye.  A recent email from the Party asks for monetary donations that will go toward a special page and advertisements that will memorialize the "years of service and dedication to our state."

A Democrat Senator Believes That the First Amendment Does Not Pertain to You

In what is becoming the mantra of the Democrat Party and their views regarding the rights protected under our Constitution, one of their Senators is now suggesting that the First Amendment does not pertain to individuals.

“Certainly the First Amendment says that in institutions of faith that there is absolute power to, you know, to observe deeply held religious beliefs. But I don’t think it extends far beyond that. . . . [I]n this context, they’re talking about expanding this far beyond our churches and synagogues to businesses and individuals across this country. I think there are clear limits that have been set in other contexts and we ought to abide by those in this new context across America.”

Iberia Parish is Wasting Money at a Staggering Rate

The money dump that has become known as Cajun RVera in Iberia Parish is not living up to the hype that the Parish Councilmen promised when they decided to dedicate public funds into a business venture.  A recent piece on The Daily Iberian has come out stating that the park is falling $400K short of the estimates by the parish.

Many, with any semblance of sensibility here in Iberia Parish, have questioned why these councilmen decided to use taxpayer funds into this endeavor.  Now, these great minds in the Parish have decided to increase property taxes on the taxpayers to the tune of 28% in the upcoming year.  Could all of this be coincidental or just a way to cover the perpetual hole that this park is turning in to?

Bobby Jindal's Twitter Response to the SCOTUS Decision on Same-Sex Marriage

In a rapid response to the SCOTUS decision this morning on the legalization of same sex-marriage, Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, presidential nominee for the Republican Party in the 2016 elections, tweeted out several statements.  It is apparent that Jindal is continuing his crusade for the nomination with his courtship of the religious right and using this issue to bolster his standings within that demographic.

Vitter Sets Record Straight: Disney-ABC Do NOT Have Moratorium on Film and Television Projects in Louisiana
 

(Metairie, La.) – David Vitter spoke with a Vice President with Disney today who confirmed that the company has not imposed a moratorium on film and television projects in Louisiana, and they hope to produce more in the future. Vitter reached out to Disney-ABC in response to ambiguous reports alleging that the company was going to put projects on hold in Louisiana based on the state legislature’s bill to limit the film tax incentives program which Governor Bobby Jindal signed. Vitter responded to Disney with the following statement thanking them.
 

“Let me assure you that Louisiana will continue to have a significant film tax credit program and a welcoming environment. I plan on revisiting this issue as governor so that we have a sustainable (versus completely unlimited) program, but a very significant one that produces the maximum activity possible,” Vitter said.

Jeff Landry Picks Up Another Major Endorsement Today

Jeff Landry, in his bid to unseat incumbent Buddy Caldwell for Louisiana Attorney General, has picked up the endorsement of the House Whip and Louisiana Representative in DC, Steve Scalise.  In his endorsement, Scalise had the following to say about Landry:

Jeff "is somebody who is not only a strong conservative but somebody who shares Louisiana values and the understanding of what's at stake."

"So many of the fights that we're are having, especially against the Obama administration, are in the courts and a lot of the standing that you have to fight these battles are at the state level," Scalise said.

Scott Angelle Pushing Poll with Questionable Results

Pollster Verne Kennedy has completed a recent survey for Louisiana's Governor's race that he indicates has "a number of errors" and, in fact, does not indicate that Scott Angelle is polling at 18%, but rather at 10%.  It seems that Angelle's camp is using information that is overinflated or, rather, being deceptive.
