Vitter Statement on Sessions Pick to be U.S. Attorney General

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today released the following statement upon President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to be Attorney General of the United States. Vitter and Sessions have served together as members of the Senate Judiciary Committee since 2015, and previously served together as members of the Senate Armed Services Committee from 2010-2015.

“I’ve worked closely with Jeff for years fighting to secure our borders, stop amnesty, and enforce our nation’s immigration laws,” said Vitter. “Jeff has a very sharp legal mind, and I’m extremely confident that as Attorney General, he’ll be a strong advocate for common sense policies that uphold our nation’s laws and serve the American people.”

One of the Establishment Endorses Scott Angelle

IMG_1962.PNG

Many may remember Joel Robideaux. He's the member in Louisiana's legislature that decided to raise taxes on the citizens of Louisiana without going through the the proper legislative means a few years back.

Well, establishment supports establishment.

Per his Facebook page tonight, Robideaux is now supporting Scott Angelle for his bid for a seat in the House of Represenatives.

NEWS: MAYOR-PRESIDENT JOEL ROBIDEAUX ENDORSES SCOTT ANGELLE FOR CONGRESS.

Focuses On Need for Expertise, Leadership On Oil & Gas Issues.

As Mayor-President of Lafayette Parish, I have seen first hand the difficulties faced by our families who rely on jobs in the oil and gas industry. The energy sector is, by far, our biggest economic driver. Once we get beyond campaign rhetoric, it's critically important that we send an industry leader to Congress who will help shape energy policy for the new administration. Our Congressman must have the ability and experience to counsel the President and other members of Congress on the impact of federal regulation affecting energy markets and production. A highly knowledgeable and effective Congressman is essential to ensure the success of the President's plans to reduce barriers to responsible energy production. This initiative will generate significant investment and bring back quality oil and gas jobs here. Scott Angelle has worked on oil and gas issues for decades. He thoroughly understands the industry and has proven to be a powerful advocate for the production, refining, distribution and oilfield services jobs that are so important to our region. We're blessed to have one candidate with the stature as a recognized leader to advise President Trump and the new Congress on these issues. With our future in mind, I'm pleased to offer my strongest possible endorsement for Scott Angelle to serve Lafayette Parish and the entire third district as our representative in Congress.

Highlighting Scott Angelle's Desperation

In a desperate attempt to grab onto the seat in the House of Representatives, Louisiana's 3rd District, Scott Angelle has stooped to new lows in attacking Capt. Clay Higgins' family. In a rebuttal, Higgins released the following, which is self explanatory.

CHILD SUPPORT?

Divorced in 1999, Higgins' ex wife... the mother of his living children... is a highly recognized, skilled paralegal. She was a senior paralegal in the Jindal Administration.

She worked with... and is friends with... Scott Angelle.

Her lawsuit about child support was filed last week, the very day after the November 8th primary.

These reported allegations date back 11 years.

Although an accomplished paralegal, she never pursued civil action until now, 11 years later.

The lawyer who filed the suit is the law partner of Jindal's attorney.

Captain Higgins consistently paid $1289 monthly, plus health insurance, and also assisted with incidental expenses, in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.

During this time frame, Captain Higgins had 5 employers... yet the Texas State Attorney Generals Office served court ordered child support withholding only one time...the initial filing in 1999.

Every subsequent employer was advised of the withholding at commencement of the new job by Captain Higgins himself.

Captain Higgins moved to St Landry Parish in 2002. In November of 2004, at the conclusion of what was to be his final job in the car business, he changed his life drastically and began his career as a street cop, earning far less money.

Higgins had the child support case moved from Texas to St. Landry Parish whereby a proper review and reassessment of child support amounts would be adjudicated by a Louisiana judge. (According to the Louisiana formula, Captain Higgins child support would have been adjusted to $400 dollars monthly, with credit applied to that amount for health insurance.) This is why payment records in Texas stop early in 2005.

Court documents in St. Landry Parish clearly verify this filing.

His wife, a clever paralegal, maneuvered the case away from St. Landry Parish into EBR Parish, where she had complete control of the case. She immediately had the case filed as "Pass Without Date", meaning it was "shelved" with no review and no new adjudication.

With no resolution, faced with no ability to seek righteous adjudication, Higgins continued to comply with what would have been the Louisiana adjudication. He did so for well beyond the 18th birthday of his 3 living children.

Captain Higgins remains a loving father, and still provides support for 2 of his now adult children.

His 2 younger children were each provided a car during their senior HS year.

His 24 year old son... a street cop... currently lives on his own in Clay's paid for single wide trailer, rent free. The Captain also helps his son with incidental bills.

Clays youngest daughter is a junior in college. Her vehicle note, all maintenance and insurance is handled by the Captain. He also provides extra help for her as he is able.

Captain Higgins has hoped his children would be left out of this campaign.

Scott Angelle remains a career politician.

How Many of the Morally Outraged Who Couldn't Vote for Vitter Happy Now?

Yet another one in the "the hits keep on hitting" books, the "Honor Code" governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, has yet again hit more of the citizens of the state straight between and in the pockets.  In true Democrat fashion, instead of seeking other ways to fund the TOPS program in the state for higher education, letters have been sent out to students and families advising that the program is being cut yet again.  This time, to the tune of upwards of 40%.

In his statement regarding the cuts, Honor Code said the following:

"The upcoming regular session in 2017 will give us another opportunity to stabilize Louisiana’s budget and invest in our children’s futures, and I’m asking the legislature to work with me, so that Louisiana’s students are not left to shoulder the burden of our state’s financial problems.”

Let me break it down to you in English - we're gonna tax that ass even more..................

Don't blame me.  I voted for Vitter.

Boustany Endorses John Kennedy for Senate

(Lafayette, LA) – Dr. Charles Boustany endorsed Treasurer John Kennedy in Louisiana’s open Senate race.

Boustany said: “Republicans who care about the future of our country need a Republican in the Senate who will work with Donald Trump to roll back the failed liberal policies of President Obama. I endorse John Kennedy and urge all my supporters to cast their vote for him.”

"Bananas" Foster is Toast in the December Runoff

John Kennedy is going into a runoff with Foster Campbell to replace outgoing Sen. David Vitter with an almost assured win coming in December.  In this piece, Republicans gained nearly 60% of the total vote in the primaries as opposed to 36% for a Democrat.

If you are having buyers remorse for voting for "Honor Code" Edwards in the gubernatorial election last year, then hopefully you've learned your lesson and won't make the same mistake again in voting for Campbell.

David Vitter on List of People Being Considered for Treasury Secretary

One of the names being floated about to fill a seat in the Trump Cabinet is outgoing Sen. David Vitter, who is being named as a candidate for the Secretary of the Dept. of the Treasury.

One avenue Trump might take to strike a balance would be to nominate a high-ranking Republican Congressmen with a history of taking a skeptical stance toward Wall Street, like Louisiana Senator David Vitter, who has supported measures that would break up too-big to fail banks, and is planning to retire from the Senate this year.

Vitter: Clinton’s $1 Million Qatar Gift Direct Violation of Sec. of State Nomination Agreement

Clinton Foundation admits to non-disclosure of $1 million “birthday gift” from foreign government, violating Secretary Clinton’s ethics agreement and kept it from oversight

(Metairie, La.) – U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today released the following statement upon the Clinton Foundation admitting to the non-disclosure of a $1,000,000 gift from the government of Qatar to the Clinton Foundation for Bill Clinton’s birthday. The non-disclosure violates a 2009 ethics agreement then-Senator Hillary Clinton signed to be nominated for the position of Secretary of State, and testimony she gave before Congress. Vitter was one of two Senators to vote against Secretary Clinton’s nomination, mainly due to the lack of oversight of Clinton’s conflicts of interest regarding the Foundation’s foreign donations.

“Hillary Clinton clearly thinks the rules do not apply to her, a sentiment the American people are sick and tired of seeing from Washington political elites,” said Vitter. “By refusing to disclose donations from foreign governments to ethics officials, Hillary Clinton directly violated the conditions of her nomination to be Secretary of State. She has shown she has no regard for the security of our classified information and this shows she can’t even follow simple ethics rules she swore to uphold.”

On December 12, 2008, the Clinton Foundation entered into an agreement with the newly elected Obama Administration via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which determined that as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton would not conduct affairs with any person or organization with which she is negotiating or has any arrangement concerning prospective employment, or financial interest. The MOU clarified the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) would be separated from the Foundation and would no longer accept contributions from foreign governments and would suspend plans for events outside the United States during Secretary Clinton’s tenure. Additionally, the MOU stated that a State Department designated agency ethics official would manage conflicts of interest or even the appearance of conflicts of interest:

“A designated agency ethics official will review and advise her with respect to any activity that may be imputed under 18 U.S.C 208 or any other applicable law or regulation, to her as a potential or actual conflict of interest.” (Emphasis added)

On January 13, 2009, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations held a confirmation hearing for Clinton to be Secretary of State. During the hearing, Vitter and Committee Ranking Republican Senator Richard Lugar (R-Indiana) questioned Clinton on potential conflicts of interest between CGI and the State Department, including suspect donations from foreign governments – pressing her to adopt higher standards to avoid future conflicts of interest. Vitter questioned the strength of the MOU, which put the burden of transparency on CGI, and when he called for a stronger MOU that would ensure a higher standard of federal oversight, Clinton responded, “CGI is not in the Memorandum of Understanding because they already have a practice of disclosing all of their contributions. There is no need to require it.”

Senator Lugar detailed the shortcomings in the five-page MOU and asked Clinton to agree to ceasing acceptance of new foreign contributions while serving as Secretary of State, to which she responded the agreement was sufficient based on, “My husband doesn’t take a salary. He has no financial interests in any of this. I don’t take a salary. I have no financial interests.”

Additionally, the MOU stated that “apart from attendance fees for CGI, it will not accept contributions from foreign governments.” After being pressed by Vitter on this issue, Clinton promised to provide further disclosures related to foreign donors as well as to provide an addendum to the Committee. It’s now clear they did not disclose the $1,000,000 donation from Qatar.

LANDRY: The Clinton-Edwards Insult

It seems that the latest play by career politicians is to attack those who disagree as backwards. According to recent revelations and interviews, if you maintain a faith in traditional doctrine - you are "backwards."

Last week, in an interview with the Times Picayune, John Bel Edwards said that I was "a backwards-thinking attorney general" for upholding the rule of law against his unconstitutional power grab. This insult followed a similar attack by the Hillary Clinton campaign who mocked the Catholic faith as "severely backwards" when it comes to abortion and same-sex marriage.

While I am offended by these insults, I am not dismayed by them. In fact, I am emboldened to continue doing what you elected me to do: enforce the laws enacted by your duly-elected representatives and protect your freedoms.

For too long - Catholics, Christians, and other people of faith have come under attack by people like Clinton, Edwards, and others who wish to subvert the moral foundations upon which our great State and Nation were built.

As Bill Donohue of the Catholic League recently said of this "stunning movement" in American politics, "bigotry is measured by words and deeds. It doesn't turn on demographic characteristics of the person. If their message is bigoted, then it's bigoted. If their deeds are bigoted, then they're bigoted."

As for me, I will not be intimidated or cower to the Clinton-Edwards attacks on our individual liberty and traditional values. Rather - I will continue to defend our Constitution, the will of the people, and common decency.

I hope you will stand with me in this worthy cause.

For Louisiana,
Jeff Landry

Time for Career Politician Foster Campbell to Strap On His Tap Dancing Shoes

(Lafayette, LA) – The Boustany for Senate campaign released the following statement after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it is re-opening the Hillary Clinton email investigation after new emails “pertinent to this investigation” surfaced.

Boustany Communications Director Jack Pandol said: “Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt major-party nominee in modern history. Not even Obama’s FBI can justify ignoring mounting evidence that Clinton risked our national security for her own political expedience by using a private email server. Dr. Boustany encourages the FBI to investigate this matter the fullest extent of the law and hold Secretary Clinton accountable for her actions.”

Democratic candidate for Senate and career politician Foster Campbell frequently says he doesn’t own any “tap dancing shoes” while deriding tap dancing politicians who don’t talk straight with the people. But Campbell has been doing some tap dancing of his own avoiding the question of whether he supports corrupt Hillary Clinton for President.

FullSizeRender.jpg

Tap dancing career politician Foster  Campbell refused to even say Hillary Clinton's name at the Louisiana Public Broadcasting debate in Ruston.

In an article in The Advocate titled “While most U.S. Senate candidates back their party’s presidential nominee, one Louisiana candidate won’t talk about it,” Foster Campbell tap danced around the question of who he’s supporting for President. Campbell said: “Talking about Hillary Clinton distracts people.”

Campbell has been criticized by his Democratic opponent, Caroline Fayard, for continuing to avoid the question. Fayard said: “The facts are the facts. Commissioner Campbell refuses to even say Hillary Clinton’s name publicly, or say whether he voted for President Obama.”

In a letter to the editor written by Terrebonne Parish Councilwoman Arlanda Williams titled “Foster Campbell trying to pull fast one on black voters,” the Councilwoman criticizes Campbell for continuing to tap-dance around the question. Williams writes: “Where were you for Secretary Hillary Clinton? To this day, when you are expecting Democrats to fall in line and vote for you, you’re nowhere to be found when it comes to supporting our party’s nominee for president.”

Boustany Communications Director Jack Pandol said: “Career politician Foster Campbell continues tap dancing around the question of whether he supports Hillary Clinton for President. He says ‘talking about Hillary Clinton distracts people.’ Foster Campbell needs to stop tap dancing like the career politician he is and man up. After today’s revelation that Hillary Clinton is under federal investigation for risking our national security, does he support the most corrupt major-party nominee in modern history, or will he continue to hide from the people of Louisiana?”

SUMMARY POINTS

  • In PSC District 4, Donald Trump has a nearly 2:1 lead over Hillary Clinton, with 82-7% Republican support, while blacks support Clinton 75-13%;
  • For the first time since JMC Analytics started polling this race in July, Mike Francis has moved into first place over Werner with a 25-23% lead. If undecided “leaners” are included, his lead over Werner widens to 10 points (39-29%);

Boustany Picks Up Endorsement of Baton Rouge Business Report

Per the piece that was released today, Boustany was endorsed for his race to replace Sen. David Vitter on the US Senate from Louisiana.

There are 24 candidates in the race for this seat. They range from longtime, yellow dog, populist Democrats to a longtime, ultra-conservative, white supremacist. Louisiana can ill afford to send either of these extremes to Washington to represent our state. We need to elect an intelligent and effective senator with integrity, who can team up with Sen. Bill Cassidy to help our state and nation.

Congressman Charles Boustany, a Republican who has served for the past 12 years, will make TEAM LOUISIANA solid in the Senate.

Boustany’s experience includes the House Ways and Means Committee and serving as chairman of the Tax Policy Subcommittee. He advocates for a simpler tax code and reduced regulation on business. Boustany is also a heart surgeon and understands the negative impact of Obamacare on patients, small business and the medical profession. He has voted to repeal the law and offered market-based solutions.

In talking with others who know and work with Boustany, they described him as, “Serious. Working hard every day. Studying the issues.” They also said, “He doesn’t crave the spotlight. He is intelligent, principled and effective for Louisiana.” Finally, one said, “His heart is right and he works well with people to get things done.” High praise.

Boustany is a native of Louisiana who graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and got his medical degree from LSU in New Orleans. He and his wife, Bridget, have raised their two children here.

Boustany has a record of accomplishments for the people of Louisiana and is the best choice for the U.S. Senate. He will make us proud.

Attorney General Jeff Landry Wins in Court Against "Honor Code" Edwards

BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after 19th Judicial District Court Judge Don Johnson dismissed Governor John Bel Edwards’ petition challenging the legal authority of the Attorney General:

“I applaud Judge Johnson for his attentiveness and preparation and for his learned decision and judgment. All along, I have stated my intention to put Louisiana’s best interests forward as I serve as the State’s chief legal officer. I will not cower to executive overreach; rather, I will continue to defend our Constitution and the will of the people.”

Constitutional Guide for the November 8 Election

Republican National Committeeman Ross Little issued a guide on Sunday regarding the six Louisiana constitutional amendments that are on the ballot in the November election.  Little has suggested YES on 2 of these amendments and NO on everything else.  The body of his email is included below:

Amendment 1.  NO. Lets' mess up the Registar of Voters.  This is an awful proposal. It would mess up Registrars of Voters everywhere by silly do-gooder requirements placed on Parishes in hiring Registrars.

The supposed idea is to "professionalize" registrars by adding various requirements to registrars.  It's a bad idea.  When in business, I fought against this my entire career.  Many wanted to require college degrees for almost everything. The problem is that universites have become headquarters for liberals everywhere.

What will soon mean:  Lots of expensive, and mostly useless, "Continuing Education," which means taxpayers will have to pay for registrars to take expensive trips and endure more drivel from liberal "presenters."

The registrars will be unduly influenced by these folks and things will get worse from there.

In case you didn't know, liberals want to "federalize" voter registration.

Think there is voter fraud now?  Just wait until the feds take over.  Here are A Few of their Bad Ideas.

So - please vote NO.

Amendment 2. YES.  Tuition autonomy.  Colleges and universities are heavily subsidized by taxpayers.  It would be better for students to pay their own expenses.  This would allow universities to do a bit more of that.

Of course, taxpayers will continue to pay a significant cost of college tuition.

This is just a very small step.

As a reminder -- Bernie Sanders wants supposedly "free" college for all  -- which means the taxpayers will pay for the vast waste at Universities.

This proposal is the opposite of the Bernie Sanders approach.

It's a good idea.

Vote YES!

Amendment 3. NO. Increase taxes on businesses. This proposal would increase taxes on businesses by taking away vital tax deductions.

In this case, businesses could no longer deduct federal income taxes paid.

Why they want this:  Now, if federal taxes go up, state taxes go down.  This is great for taxpayers but state lawmakers would rather have the extra money to dole out. This proposal would mean that even as federal taxes go up, state taxes would also go up.

It's a bad idea.

Some estimate that businesses would pay another $30 million per year.  Others claim it would be revenue neutral.

Taxes are already too high.  We need to lower, not raise taxes.

What proponents will argue -- this is a flat tax of 6.5% on business, which is lower for some and higher for others.

My answer -- then why are taxes expected to increase up to $30 million per year?

Why not decrease taxes for all businesses?

Just say NO.

Amendment 4. NO. Tax Exemption for our Favorite People.  This is how they get you.

They propose a tax exemption to the most deserving of people -- in this case the spouses of persons killed in the line of duty.

This whole business of exemptions is usually a bad idea.  Belly up and Vote NO.

Amendment 5. NO. Budget Stabilization Fund.  Seems almost every election we are asked to do another "stabilization fund."

This one points out that we have a big problem -- Retirement Funds for government employees.  They are out of control.  This proposal, however, would make everything worse.

We need to change government workers retirement funds to 401(k) type programs just like everyone else.  Businesses got rid of these defined beneift plans because they were way too expensive.

Let's solve the problem - not make it worse.  Please, please vote NO.

Amendment 6. NO. Convoluted plan to adjust the threshold to tap certain funds and adds new protected funds.

We have so many funds it is ridiculous.

While I like the idea of being able to tap these funds, I really dislike the idea of adding a bunch of new protected funds.

If they would have simply reduced the threshold to tap the funds, I would have said yes.  They didn't.  They also added some new protected funds.

Yuck.

This is a move in the wrong direction.  We should be eliminating protected funds, not creating more such funds.

Instead of all these silly protected funds, our legislators should vote on every item.  I don't like excuses like - "The constitution makes us spend money on all these ridiculous items.

Let them know that we don't want more of these funds.

Just vote NO.

The Daily Advertiser also highlighted Boustany's leadership on issues directly affecting the citizens of Louisiana, chief among them, the oil and gas industry.  Additionally, his lead on coastal restoration, international trade, American security and international affairs were among the issues that were most important in their endorsement.

John Fleming Positioned to Make Runoff for Senate Seat

In the latest JMC Analytics and Polling, which was commissioned by the Fleming campaign, shows that Fleming is positioned to make the runoff for the Senate seat being vacated by David Vitter.

The poll, which can be seen here, shows Fleming “winning the Republican primary” with a 27-25% lead over Kennedy among Republicans. If undecided voters are included, he expands to a 30-25% lead over Kennedy.

It also shows that Foster Campbell, one of two Democrats running in the election, is the likely candidate for a runoff in the election against one of the Republicans in the race, which are likely Fleming, Charles Boustany or John Kennedy.
